Each February, the Ontario Heritage Trust invites Ontarians to participate in Ontario Heritage Week to celebrate heritage in all its forms (cultural and natural, architectural, archaeological and collections), its diverse traditions and cultural expressions.

For Heritage Week, RiverBrink is hosting a selection of historical photographs and vintage cameras from Lucky’s Lens. This local legacy project, dedicated to preserving and celebrating the cultural heritage and stories of our communities, showcases the history and physical transformations of the Niagara Region. The display at RiverBrink provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how community history is preserved and commemorated, and how our stories will be shared in the future.

Spring Walking Tour & En Plein Air Watercolour

As the exhibition Queenston Village continues, join RiverBrink Art Museum on an exclusive spring historic walking tour of the scenic village of Queenston. Guided by artist-instructor Winifred Henstock and RiverBrink staff, this walking tour invites you to create plein-air watercolor sketches of the stunning landscapes and heritage sites along the way, all while learning about the rich local history.

By the end of the workshop, you will develop skills to make quick sketches with paint and use a limited palette to create expressive watercolour paintings. Winifred has been a professional artist for over 25 years. She is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and Toronto Watercolor Society.

Don’t miss this opportunity to improve your artistic skills while enjoying the beautiful spring weather at the Queenston Village!

Indigenous Workshop Series

RiverBrink Art Museum is honoured to host Jamie-Lyn Gilliingham’s Indigenous programming series.
For this first series of three Indigenous workshops at RiverBrink, Jamie-Lyn will teach Traditional First Nations knowledge and skills of utilizing native plants to make medicine, soaps and crafts. While immersed in hands-on experience of Indigenous Knowledge, participants are encouraged to engage in conversations in this welcoming and safe space.

Acrylic Pet Portrait Workshop with Katie Favell

Pets always occupy a special place in people’s lives and have long attracted the eye of artists painting domestic scenes and subjects. As the exhibition Manifest Domesticity continues, RiverBrink Art Museum invites you to celebrate your furry, four-legged companions who shape our sense of home and belonging. Join Katie Favell for this one day painting workshop.
