Curator's Talk with Ayo Adewumi
Join us for an insightful and engaging morning with Ayo Adewumi, the guest curator of Gẹ̀lẹ̀dẹ́ and Friends, as he offers an in-depth look at the exhibition and the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria. Ayo Adewumi, a Niagara -based filmmaker and arts educator, has meticulously curated this collection from his personal archive of ancestral and decorative masks, carvings, and metalworks—each piece reflecting a unique story and deep cultural significance.
Born in Nigeria, Adewumi’s passion for preserving and sharing the art of his homeland has led him to collect these artifacts over many years. During this special event, guests will have the opportunity to hear firsthand about the objects on display and the historical context behind their creation, providing a deeper understanding of the profound artistic traditions of Nigeria. This intimate gathering is an excellent opportunity to connect with the curator and gain a greater appreciation for the cultural richness on display during this Black History Month.
