Heritage Week:
​Lucky's Lens Multimedia Installation

February 19-22 | 10am-5pm

Each February, the Ontario Heritage Trust invites Ontarians to participate in the Ontario Heritage Week to celebrate heritage in all its forms (cultural and natural, architectural, archaeological and collections), its diverse traditions and cultural expressions. 
 
For this Heritage Week (February 19 – 22), Lucky’s Lens is partnering with RiverBrink Art Museum showcasing a collection of documentary, photographs, and vintage cinematographic equipment. Featuring the history and transformations of natural and civil landscape in the Niagara Region, especially Niagara-on-the-Lake, Lucky’s Lens collection at RiverBrink provides a wonderful opportunity for everyone who calls Niagara their home to reflect on their contributions to the region, how their heritage is conserved and commemorated, and how they might shape the future.

The human history of the Niagara strait is written in historic settlements and infrastructure, of bridges, buildings, and crossing points. Unlike the physical transformation of the landscape, the political currents at play throughout this border region are less visible. A site where two nations meet, the border between Canada and the United States is structured by international agreement. This forms a barrier, hindering and controlling cross-border activities and contacts. The artificial line drawn by this international boundary, the disruptions and displacements of nations and people, the battles won and lost, remain hidden below the surface. 

Experience Borderland, an exhibition featuring prints, drawings and paintings of the Niagara borderland region, from the Samuel E. Weir Collection, with Director/Curator Debra Antoncic.

Dr. Antoncic will lead attendees through a discussion of the artworks and themes of the exhibition, with refreshments to follow.

Acrylic Pet Portrait Workshop with Katie Favell

Pets always occupy a special place in people’s lives and have long attracted the eye of artists painting domestic scenes and subjects. As the exhibition Manifest Domesticity continues, RiverBrink Art Museum invites you to celebrate your furry, four-legged companions who shape our sense of home and belonging. Join Katie Favell for this one day painting workshop.
