Coffee with the Curator with Debra Antoncic
The human history of the Niagara strait is written in historic settlements and infrastructure, of bridges, buildings, and crossing points. Unlike the physical transformation of the landscape, the political currents at play throughout this border region are less visible. A site where two nations meet, the border between Canada and the United States is structured by international agreement. This forms a barrier, hindering and controlling cross-border activities and contacts. The artificial line drawn by this international boundary, the disruptions and displacements of nations and people, the battles won and lost, remain hidden below the surface.
Experience Borderland, an exhibition featuring prints, drawings and paintings of the Niagara borderland region, from the Samuel E. Weir Collection, with Director/Curator Debra Antoncic. Dr. Antoncic will lead attendees through a discussion of the artworks and themes of the exhibition, with refreshments to follow. RSVP to [email protected] |
