Celebrate Heritage week at RiverBrink and join us for a Live Demonstration, presented by the Niagara Hand Weavers and Spinners Guild! Have you ever wanted to learn how to weave? Using a floor loom, members of the guild will demonstrate the arts of spinning fibre into yarn and weaving yarn into cloth.
This is a FREE event! Please RSVP via email to [email protected]. About the Niagara Hand Weavers Guild For more than 75 years, the Niagara Handweavers and Spinners Guild has been supporting fibre artists and craftspeople in Niagara. The Guild maintains a weaving studio space at Trillium United Church in St. Catharines and offers lessons in spinning and weaving. A variety of weaving classes are currently underway at the studio: A Taste of Weaving is a chance for new weavers to experience the basics of weaving while creating a small project. Level 1 students will learn to weave independently on a table loom, while Level 2 students will master weaving on a floor loom. In other activities, a weekly Open Studio session provides mentoring and fellowship opportunities. At monthly gatherings, members enjoy speakers, demonstrations, or a mini workshop, as well as Show and Tell. Members volunteer their time for demonstrations at Museum events throughout Niagara as well as hands-on activities for school children. Monthly Spin Days and annual Dye Days are social events as well as learning opportunities.
