As the school season begins, immerse yourself in a vibrant art education experience with Growing Arts, a workshop developed by Stewart Fanning in accordance with the Ontario Curriculum.
Growing Arts is designed to spark creativity and inspire a fresh perspective on art and art history. The workshop lasts about 60-90 minutes and is discussion based with 1-2 activities that are relevant to the topic. The instructions for the activity would be simple and easy to follow. This workshop features:
Engaging Discussions: Delve into the issues and hot topics in the art world and art history.
Art Bingo Game: The BINGO has words and phrases from the presentation that the students can check off. It keep the students engaged during the workshop.
Scribble and Sketch Session: Unleash your creativity and imagination through guided drawing activities.
Introduction to Art Careers: Explore diverse opportunities within the art field and learn how to turn passion into profession.
With its fun presentation and creative activities, Growing Arts is perfect for introducing kids and students to the multifaceted art world. Join us this fall to see art in a new light and embrace your creative nature!
Learning Objective:
Students will be able to:
Reflect, Respond, and Analyz: apply the critical analysis process tocommunicate feelings, ideas, and understandings in response to a variety of art works and art experiences.
Explore Forms and Cultural Contexts: demonstrate an understanding of a variety of art forms, styles, and techniques from the past and present, and their social and/or community contexts.
These learning objectives follow the Ontario Art Curriculum by teaching students how to Reflect when looking at art and how it may affect their percepttion, behaviour, and how art affects their community; how to Respond when seeing their own art or art in a gallery or by a peer; and finally, how to Analyz art: talk about it or critique it.
Grades 4-8 (roughly ages 6 – 14)
About Stewart Fanning
Stewart Fanning is an artist and instructor from Sarnia, Ontario. He holds a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from NSCAD University, with many years of working in the arts. Fanning has several years of experience as an instructor with multiple institutions such as Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery, VALS Program (Gallery in The Grove), and Camp Takajo (USA). Fanning also has over 7 years of graphic design experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
