FEATURE EXHIBITION

OFF THE WALL: ART TREASURES FROM NIAGARA COLLECTIONS

The main exhibition features important historic and modern artworks created by both Canadian and International artists that on loan to RiverBrink from private and public collections in the Niagara region. Artists represented in the exhibit include Homer Watson, John Ruskin, Susanna Moodie and Wilson Morrice.

COLLECTION EXHIBITIONS

SAM'S LADIES

RiverBrink founder, Samuel E. Weir Q.C., had a keen interest in collecting figural artwork. This exhibit focuses on his appreciation of the female form and includes notable artwork from Augustus John and Arthur Lismer.

FRANCE IN ART

One of the most dynamic periods of creative experimentation in the history of art occurred in nineteenth century France. This selection of seldom-seen works from the RiverBrink collection explores French life at the turn of the 20th century. Artists represented include Toulouse-Lautrec and Pierre Renoir.

CANADIAN HISTORY IN PORTRAITS

This selection of 18th and 19th century portraits from the RiverBrink collection features notable people who helped shape the early history of the country we now know as Canada. Included in this exhibit is one of the few self-portraits done by Paul Kane.

NIAGARA FALLS AND QUEENSTON

A key part of the RiverBrink collection is historic artwork which depicts the famous wonder of the world Niagara Falls, as well as views of the surrounding Niagara Region. This exhibition features work from Robert Whale and Washington Friend (a new RiverBrink acquisition), among others.

SUZOR-CÔTÉ AT RIVERBRINK

One of Mr. Weir?s favourite artists was painter-sculptor Marc Aurèle de Foy Suzor-Côté. Mr. Suzor- Côté was born and raised in rural Quebec. The selection of sculptures on view reflects the artist?s empathy for the challenging pioneer life of people from his home area.
